We are starting a new research project

Since a few months ago, most of the members of this project together with colleagues from other Spanish universities have started the research project Transversality, Creativity and Inclusion in School Music Projects: An Evaluative Research (TCIEM). In this project we are conducting an evaluative research on music projects designed by teachers of different educational stages to develop transversal competences in the classroom. We are immersed in this new adventure, so if you want to know how the development of this research project is going, we invite you to visit the website of this project where you can find more information, as well as all the news that are being generated around it: https://tciem.ugr.es/

Thank you and see you at TCIEM!

New book on good teaching practices in music education

Next September the book Escuelas musicales. Buenas prácticas docentes en centros de Primaria y Secundaria que educan a través de la música will be released. It contains part of the research developed by the Impactmus project, which sought to analyse professional practices in primary and secondary music classrooms from Spanish schools in accordance with relevant music education models and in relation to current social needs.

The book contains seven case studies that can be considered as different examples of “good teaching practices” in music education. All of them are also valuable in that they can contribute to responding to the new educational, social, economic and cultural demands of our time.

The book will be published by Octaedro and has been edited by José Luis Aróstegui Plaza, Gabriel Rusinek Milner and Antonio Fernández-Jiménez. It includes contributions from researchers from several Spanish universities, as well as from foreign universities.

“The impact of school music education in Spain” documentary collection

Finally, “The impact of school music education in Spain” documentary collection has been published after many months of working. This documentary collection includes the results of the Impactmus project (2015-2018), developed by several researchers from various Spanish universities.

This audiovisual piece compiles testimonies told by music educators from different schools throughout Spain. Those schools are considered to be reference institutions in the field of music education for reasons like developing a project-based learning through music, having a school’s choir… There is also the assessment of former students about how music influenced their lives at school or high school.
